Well its the end of a funny old week, new starts with the new webpage going up live and the group have been working on a magickal working this week.
We are doing work to try to improve the feeling of hopelessness in the world at the moment.
We are trying to
A. Work on the general intellect of people and improve their ability to reason properly. Hopefully this will aid in drawing them away from things like the TV and the News media as this is fueling the downward descent in reasoning that we seem to be seeing at the moment. Intellect seems to be a very unfashionable characteristic at the moment. We value the culture of stupidity, sheople and celebrity.
B. We are working on the Love element so that we have a balance between an intellectual society and a loving one. Intellect without love is a cold calculating thing, a jobsworth society. We must therefor encourage both characteristics to get the culture we want.
We are doing this by using ritual.
This is the bones of the magickal work if you would like to join us please feel free the more input on this the better.
If you decide to do the working comment on how it went and how you found the work.
Working on the Intellect
Please perform the Orphic Hymn to Hermes on a daily basis starting at the first Weds after the new moon.
Place the Magician Tarot card on a stand and place 8 candles around the card.
Light some inscence of your choice and then recite the orphic hymn to hermes.
Place the Talisman underneath the Tarot card.
Visualise rainbow couloured energy coming out of the tarot card and spreading to the ends of the earth. Ask Hermes for help in bringing people out of the sleep of dullness and to help them follow more intellectual work and to think in a more intellectual way, giving insights into how the world can be improved by better communication.
Thank hermes for his help and then douse your candles. Tea lights should be fine and should last for a bout a week if you douse them aver day.
The Magician (Any version ) We use the BOTA version
HERMES, draw near, and to my pray'r incline,
Angel of Jove, and Maia's son divine;
Studious of contests, ruler of mankind,
With heart almighty, and a prudent mind.
Celestial messenger, of various skill,
Whose pow'rful arts could watchful Argus kill:
With winged feet, 'tis thine thro' air to course,
O friend of man, and prophet of discourse:
Great life-supporter, to rejoice is thine,
In arts gymnastic, and in fraud divine:
With pow'r endu'd all language to explain,
Of care the loos'ner, and the source of gain.
Whose hand contains of blameless peace the rod,
Corucian, blessed, profitable God;
Of various speech, whose aid in works we find,
And in necessities to mortals kind:
Dire weapon of the tongue, which men revere,
Be present, Hermes, and thy suppliant hear;
Assist my works, conclude my life with peace,
Give graceful speech, and me memory's increase
On the first Friday after new moon.
light 7 candles around the Tarot card the Empress
Light some inscence ofyour choice.
Put the tarot card on top of the talisman
Recite the orphic hymn and then visualise Green energy coming out of the Empress card. Visualise it going to the ends of the earth. Ask Aphrodite or Venus to increase everyones awareness of love in the world and to increase everyones acceptance of love in the world.
Allow love to enter the heart of those who are over zealous in intellect. and to balance love of all things within each person.
Talisman and orphic Hymn
Tarot Card (the Empress, any Pack) we use the BOTA cards
The Orphic Hymn to Venus
Heavv'nly, illustrious, laughter-loving queen,
Sea-born, night-loving, of an awful mien;
Crafty, from whom necessity first came,
Producing, nightly, all connecting dame:
Tis thine the world with harmony to join,
For all things spring from thee, O pow'r divine...
Goddess of marriage, charming to the sight,
Mother of Loves, whom banquetings delight;
Source of persuasion, secret, fav'ring queen,
Illustrious born, apparent and unseen:
Spousal, lupercal, and to men inclin'd,
Prolific, most-desir'd, life giving, kind:
Great sceptre-bearer of the Gods, 'tis thine,
Mortals in necessary bands to join;
And ev'ry tribe of savage monsters dire
In magic chains to bind, thro' mad desire...
Come, all-attractive to my pray'r inclin'd,
For thee, I call, with holy reverent mind.
